Council Bluffs, Iowa

Tim:
Day 15 is complete and I started in Des Moines on nearly 60 miles of bike trails followed by 28 miles on a highway, finishing up with 11 miles on a dusty gravel road. Total miles traveled was 100 today with well over 1500 miles overall. Things are going well and I’m excited to get to Council Bluffs tomorrow and see my family. Feeling good and all is well. We'll take the bikes in for tune ups when we get to my hometown.

Marcia:
It was just a 40 mile day for Tim as we arrived in Council Bluffs Tuesday morning. We had a great reunion with his Mom and stepdad...
and an interview by a reporter from the local newspaper. You can find the article at nonpareilonline.com.

After Tim gave me a tour of his hometown, we arrived at his Dad’s and Violet's home to meet up with his family there, including two of his brothers and their families.
Jett and Declan Shea love Grandpa Tom's truck.  We h
ad a great visit with Tim’s grandmother, 97 years old and going strong. He must get some of his grit and determination from her!

It has been a great couple of days as we begin to wind down…feels a little weird not to be on the go and following our daily riding/camping routine. But it is a very good thing to get a rest from it all as well. I'm having so much fun meeting all his family out here in Iowa. We went to the Omaha, Nebraska zoo today, which was a great way to spend the day with his Mom. We are both looking forward to a couple of more days of relaxation here, and then an Iowa reception of sorts on Saturday to meet all the Iowa folks who couldn't make it to Vermont for our wedding last summer. Wonderful place, wonderful people.
